Empire

-
Empire is a monthly British film magazine established in 1987. It is the best selling film magazine in the United Kingdom.
-
The Empire film awards are hosted annually and the winners are voted for by the readers.
-
Empire magazines coverage is largely reflecting popular culture and mainstream films.
-
It reviews art films aswell but feature articles mainly concentrate on mainstream films.
-
The masterpiece feature is a two-page essay on a film selected by Empire. It is a regual feature. The selection of the films seem to be quite random and follow no specific pattern.
-
As well as film news, previews and reviews, Empire has some other regular features. Each issue features a Classic Scene, a transcript from a notable film scene.
This is a very conventional and commercially successful film magazine so it did not influence me very much as I want my review article to be more unconventional to reflect my film and appeal to my target audience. However one thing that did influence me from Empire magazine was the fact that on the titles they never use ledges on the bottom of the letters. I plan to incorporate this into my review article.
